On 15 July 2025, the Penhill Conservation Area welcomed the Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers (CREW) to explore the diversity of flora in our precious slice of nature. Two Friends of Penhill Conservation Area volunteers joined them as they spent the day documenting flora throughout the area.

The team used the iNaturalist app to photograph and identify plants (and occasionally fauna) during their visit. For a complete list and images of observed species, you can access the iNaturalist observation list.

This collaboration highlights why such partnerships are crucial for conservation. Indigenous species conservation needs a powerful advocate—one whose voice carries across the landscape. Science serves as our essential lens for preserving ecological heritage, and documentation of rare and endangered species shines a spotlight on why protected areas matter.

CREW isn’t the only organisation we’re excited to work with. In the coming months, the Friends of Penhill Conservation Area will partner with many organizations to achieve our conservation goals.

As a local resident, you can play a vital role in conserving our slice of nature. Join us as a volunteer or member, or support us through donations. For more information, see How you can help.
